Спонтанная частота мутирования — частота, с которой происходят мутации генов при нормальных условиях жизни организма. С. ч. м. является функцией всего генотипа, причем на мутабильность генов одной хромосомы могут влиять гены, локализованные в др. хромосоме. С. ч. м. отдельных локусов сильно колеблется, а ее средняя величина варьирует от 10-5 до 10-7 (ср. Экспериментальная частота).
